Did you know that there are 14 weeks until Christmas Day! With this in mind my first task in my Wedding Day Shape Up plan is to break it down into sizeable and achievable chunks. So if I said 'I have 27 weeks until my Wedding Day" I could easily fall into the trap of saying, gosh I have 27 weeks, which is loads of time to lose a dress size. However, this is where most health plans fail. Instead I have broken down the health plan into 12 weeks before Christmas and again 12 weeks after Christmas. Read on to see what I will be doing first.........
The first mistake that most people make when starting a new health routine is that they set unrealistic goals. For example "oh well I need to lose 2 stone by Christmas!" or 'I'm going to stop smoking and get on a diet starting today". Firstly, apart from being unrealistic these are your aims as opposed to being your objectives. So let me list my Wedding Day Objectives that are more specific, detailed and realistic for me to achieve...
AIM: What I want to achieve/ my goal.
· Lose a Dress Size by 12th December, 2007 (Total 12 weeks from tomorrow)
Objectives: How am I going to achieve my aim?
· Lose 1-2Ilbs per week (total 12-24Ilbs)
· Eat 5 small meals throughout the day (more details to follow)
· Drink minimum 2.5 litres of water per day
· Get to sleep at 10.30pm 6 days out of the 7
· Cut out all sweets/caffeine for 6 days out of the 7 (I don’t drink caffeine so shouldn’t be a problem, but I do like a chocolate bar now and again!)
· Do some form of exercise for an hour each day (more details to follow)
· Get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep per night.
These objectives are quantifiable and therefore I can track my progress for the next 12 weeks. I have a chart with a monthly spreadsheet and the objectives for the day. Each task that I have fulfilled for the day can be checked off. This way I will stay on track, be able to follow my progress and stay motivated for each month. Not only are the goals detailed but they are achievable with my 'take one day at a time' approach.
If you would like to get a FREE copy of my working spreadsheet then contact me and we can work together for the next 12 weeks, it is as they say ' easier and more fun' to work together.
I'll be listing the nutrition and exercise guidelines soon.
Good luck for tomorrow!
