OH wow! Doesn’t it feel great when you finally find that
long lost motivation and commitment to a health programme!!
Just thought I would share with you that as a result, I have lost 1kg this week
and had 5 small regular meals spaced out every three hours throughout the day.
It got me thinking of my previous attempts at getting and staying in shape. It
also reminded me of my 8 week health blast last year in Los Angeles, when I hired a
"reputable" personal trainer. Trouble was, as good as his programmes
were and yes I did see short term results; his programmes were not suited for
long term health maintenance as his diets were based upon consuming 'NO FAT'.
Please understand that no one can survive their life without essential fats in
their diet. Common signs of a person that hasn't had essential fats in their
diet would be an almost dullish looking, grey, dry and wrinkly skin and
depression.
Yes, his eating plan, recommended food quantities
and exercise programmes were safe and suitable for my needs. But he overlooked
the fact that once I stopped his very strict ‘no fat’ diet programme, my
body would need to heal a damaged metabolism. And yes, it has taken a year
to heal my metabolism.
So why am I on a 6
month Health plan when I have just spent a year healing my metabolism?
As a consequence of the 'Yo-Yo' dieting, my body had to heal. In the process of healing, which takes time, the body replenishes itself with the necessary nutrients, which can make you initially gain some weight. (OMG I hear you cry, yeah so did I!!) But WAIT! This is a sign that your body IS healing and as one of my favorite authors who is an Endocrinologist “Dr Schwarzbein” says “you have to be healthy to lose weight, not lose weight in order to be healthy”.
So now that I am following my wedding day shape up, I am not 'dieting' but merely adjusting my eating and exercise programmes so that I can safely and slowly lose 4 kilos by Christmas and then another 4 kilos by March.
So why am I ready now to lose weight?
As a result of making lifestyle changes with support of nutritional supplements I have stabilized my blood sugar levels, cleared up my digestion, gotten rid of my adrenal exhaustion so that my body is now healthy to lose weight in a safe and effective manner.
Most importantly for me is that I no longer have the cravings, irritability and emotional ups and downs that would cause me to stop dieting and calm my emotions down with food. I feel in control, pleasantly satisfied with each meal and am confident that I will see the results in time for my wedding!
Let’s hope this ‘up beat motivation’ stays with me for next week! I’ll keep you posted!
