Well, here it is, I have 8 weeks until I leave Saudi and then two weeks after it will be Christmas!!! Sorry for those of you who have been ignoring that fact. I do enjoy Christmas but don't allow myself or Rob to get stressed by last minute gift hunting or meal planning. Probably because we are going out this Christmas for lunch at somebody else's house and that last year we stayed at the Ritz Carlton Bahrain for a fabby weekend! Anyway, I digress!
Back to the Wedding Day shape up journal.
After being in Bahrain for 12
days and having the freedom to pop out for a coffee (mint tea) or a
meal and drinks with friends I was worried that all my hard work from
before would have been wasted. I must admit that I did enjoy a few
G&T's and Rob and I have found a new drink called Savana which is
a cider (yes, lots of sugar but we don't drink beer because of the
gluten!). Rob and I make sure that we always eat some sort of protein
when we have a drink such as nuts as this reduces the impact of the
high sugar content.
Not that we drink all the time but the fact that I was out of Saudi
where alcohol is forbidden, I behaved like a kid in a candy store and
enjoyed the social drinking atmosphere of the Brit Club!
So I counted the few nights that we drank as my 20% off days! (Oh yeah and my Iftar Buffet Night at the RitZ!!!)
The rest of the time, I watched my carb intake and made sure that I ate plenty of healthy fats and proteins. I also made sure that I had a healthy breakfast and ate every 3-5 hours to keep my blood sugar levels balanced. The one night we had a curry and a bottle of wine and again that was a treat. I also did Pilates video and 20 minutes of my Yoga video every day and power walked for 1 and a half hours along the Cornish one afternoon.
I came back to Saudi last Friday and I have gained 2Ilbs throughout my holiday! Not bad I'd say and that was from healthy eating AND enjoying myself, which is how your lifestyle should always be. I don't advocate diets or strict calorie restriction diets as they are unrealistic and only set you up for failure when your body craves foods in order to get the proper nutrition.
The only changes, whilst continuing with my healthy eating plan, is that I have started teaching my fitness classes. With the increase of calorie burning and muscle toning this will ensure that I trim down in the next 8 weeks. As I always say life isn't about deprivation and the whole low fat movement is now confirming this as there are more and more people suffering from depression due to fat deprivation ! As you know there is a direct correlation between Omega 3 deficiency and depression!
Anyway, I have an interesting article about Dietary Fats that I have almost finished and will be releasing soon so I must go! Watch this space!
