Energy Drinks Linked to Risk-Taking Behavior.
Two new research reports examine the relationships between energy drink consumption and risk-taking in college students, as well as "toxic jock identity", which is characterized by hyper-masculinity and risk-taking behaviors among college-age athletes.
Samantha Says:
Yes it amazes me how many Personal Trainers and ETM (Exercise to Music) teaches (Les Mills teachers) drink oodles of 'Red Bull", 'Diet Coke' and Energy Drinks.
For people new to exercise we are often the first point of contact and can sometimes be their role models. Still caught in the idealogy of what a healthy person looks like, more and more teachers and PT's usually keep themselves going by taking stimulants. In my opinion, the energy just won't last and eventually they are going to burn out. Exercise can be a stress if it is not done correctly or if someone does too much. The adrenals start to burn out which can lead to numerous health conditions.
My advice is stay away from artificial stimulants and learn to listen to your body! if it is tired from too many classes then REST. If you are doing too much exercise learn to incorporate calming classes like Body Balance, Tai Chi, Yoga or Pilates. These classes are great compliment to endurance and weight training programmes.
