As you may know, there are thousands of diets and health makeover
plans on the market that claim you can lose weight in x amount of weeks. I am
not criticizing these methods, I am just highlighting that they are designed to
give you short term results whereby your symptoms often return once the program
has been completed.
My coaching is not about calorie reduction, diet products,
fads and starving that promise to see unrealistic results. It is about eating
the right foods that contain essential nutrients, phytonutrients, minerals,
fiber etc that allow your body to run at its most efficient and heal
any underlying chronic manifestations that may hinder your current and future
lifestyle.
Ultimately, and more importantly, health is not merely rated on
how you look on the outside. There are more aspects which need to be considered
rather than what dress size you are.
- Sleep
patterns; time you sleep, wake-up, quality of sleep, circadian rhythms.
- Environmental,
emotional, physical, mental stressors to the mind & body
- How
often, when, what you eat
- How
often, when, what you drink
- How well your internal systems are working such as the digestion, hormonal, nervous, reproductive systems.
- General outlook on life, spiritual growth and development; your life's purpose.
Unfortunately modern day living is taking its toll and as a
consequence many of us suffer with bad backs, neck pain and/or chronic joint
pain. 21st Century sedentary living has allowed certain postural
muscles in the body to become weak. As a result, when we place demands on the
body such as exercising in a gym, or playing a recreational sport we run the
high risk of injury.
My sessions involve an initial postural assessment to
figure out which of your muscles are weak and which of them are over worked.
Imagine the spikes on a bicycle wheel; if one of the spikes gets broken or
bent, the wheel is unable to turn efficiently. This is a great analogy of how
the muscles of the body work. When you go into a gym without professional
guidance you may start by over-training your existing tight
and over-trained muscles that contribute to your postural pain.
Without proper assessment you are unable to know which muscles need stretching
and which ones need strengthening.
Once we have corrected any postural imbalances through a corrective
exercise program and I am happy that you are structurally sound, we will then
add weights to your program to develop muscle tone and strength. Stretching is also
a big and integral part of your programs.
Furthermore, I work using the functional exercise approach whereby
we train your deep core muscles to create a strong foundation so that you can
continue to do daily activities, play sports without stress on the joints,
ligaments etc that way reducing your risk of further injury.
What happens in the First Session?
- Postural assessment: finding out which of your muscles needs stretching and which ones need strengthening.
- Health assessment: facts, figures and fun!
- Nutritional assessment: find out what you eat, how you eat, and your food choices available
The number of further sessions required is determined around your
existing state of health, future goals, time/work commitments and your
involvement. We will work at your own pace and you decide how much health
coaching you require as we go along. I mention this as ultimately, you will
have to do the necessary work to see changes; I am here to educate, support,
organize but not do the work for you. Unfortunately, I do not provide a magic
pill!
If there is a particular area that needs extra support then we may
spend extra time as per required. On average – short term health improvements
can take 3-6 months, long term health improvements can take 1-3 years depending
on the severity of chronic ill health.

What is your Background?
I completed my Access to Sports Science in 1999
and graduated with a 2.1 (Hons) for my Health Sciences Bachelors degree in the UK.
I entered the fitness industry after qualifying as a Group Exercise instructor
and Personal trainer. Soon after, I progressed to more advanced involvement
with neuro-muscular imbalances and was trained through the C.H.E.K Institute
based in California. I launched and successfully managed my own company
dedicated to the wellness needs of clients in the UK.
Thereafter, I was
recruited as Royal Health Coach and Corrective Exercise specialist for a family
based in Riyadh. Through my own personal health challenges I redirected my
career and started training in Holistic Lifestyle Coaching through the C.H.E.K.
Institute. Finding that this approach was fundamental in achieving my own
optimum wellness, I enrolled on the 6 month intensive Functional Medicine Practitioner
course run by fellow C.H.E.K instructor and renowned natural health expert Dr
Dan Kalish.
I have since embarked on my Masters of Science in Holistic
Nutrition offered by Hawthorn University in California. My additional qualifications
include: C.H.E.K Exercise Coach C.H.E.K Holistic Lifestyle Coach 1, Certified
Personal Trainer, Yoga and Pilates qualified.
